23 February 2010

American singer-songwriter Holly Miranda’s solo debut full-length, The Magician’s Private Library, will be released via XL Recordings on February 23, 2010.
The 10-track album, produced by Dave Sitek at Staygold Studio in Brooklyn, NY, and includes contributions from Sitek, Kyp Malone and Jaleel Bunton (TV On The Radio), Eric Biondo and Stuart Bogie (Antibalas), and Holly’s long-time violinist, Marques Toliver.
The Magician’s Private Library is available as a US import 3-sided double LP with etching & complimentary MP3 coupon and 4 panel CD digipak with poster.
Holly will be appearing at SXSW 2010 in March and commences a full North American tour in April.
Holly Miranda officially made her XL Recordings debut with the “Forest Green Oh Forest Green” single (7” & digital) in November 2009 and spent that same month touring with label mates Friendly Fires and The XX in the US (including Vancouver), and a Toronto Horseshoe Tavern date with The Antlers.
Holly has been singing for as long as she can remember. She first began playing in New York at age 16 and soon discovered the world of the East Village and started playing at places like The Sidewalk and meeting kindred spirits in the New York scene. Whether solo or with her band, she’s become an artist consistently able to mesmerize with her range as well as her songs.
Holly is also a founding member of New York based, Jealous Girlfriends.

“On these new songs she conjures a whole range of possibilities: a less fearful Cat Power, a more substantive Feist, a Norah Jones with actual feeling.” – New York Times

“Whether she’s performing a cappella or surrounded by a full, warm fuzz of music—as on her Dave Sitek–produced forthcoming debut—Miranda is a rare talent.” – The Volume

“You can hear the influence of New Order as much as you can TV On the Radio, Patti Smith, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs…Consider this fair warning: she’s the real deal.” – Variety

“Its tinkling melody is almost too precious, but the ramshackle instrumentation adequately musses up any lingering sense of cutesiness.” – Popmatters
