Thievery Corporation - 3 LP Deluxe Radio Retailiation instores Aug. 31st
Thievery Corporation raised the bar once again with Radio Retaliation, their fifth studio album and first all new release since The Cosmic Game in 2005.
Available initially as a deluxe CD (Grammy nominated in the Best Recording Package category), Radio Retailiation is now available as a US Import gatefold triple vinyl.
With longtime microphone co-conspirators like Sleepy Wonder, Lou Lou, and Notch the Outernational DJ, the production team of Eric Hilton and Rob Garza are joined by a new cast of musical collaborators including Nigeria’s afro-beat heir Femi Kuti, Brazilian star vocalist and guitarist Seu Jorge, Indian sitar virtuoso Anoushka Shankar, Slovakian chanteuse and violinist Jana Andevska, and Washington DC’s
own godfather of go-go, Chuck Brown.
Thievery Corporation have been touring world wide in support of the album, with sold out shows in Toronto, Montréal, and Vancouver in early 2009 and then a return swing in October ‘09 that pushed sales beyond 10,000 units!
Fall 2010 sees Thievery once again on the road, this time as part of a co-headlining package with Massive Attack that will stop in Montréal at The Bell Centre Oct. 18th.
Coinciding with their Massive Attack tour dates, Thievery Corporation will be releasing their first ever Best Of compilation, It Takes A Thief Sept. 21st. The album is a collection of tracks specially selected by Rob and Eric Hilton for longtime fans and for music lovers who have heard of Thievery Corporation but may not have previously listened to the band.
Features Lebanese Blonde, used on the Grammy award-winning Garden State Soundtrack, as well as Sound the Alarm, the funk infused killer that has become a live staple. Also included are Shadows Of Ourselves, Warning Shots, The Richest Man In Babylon, Sweet Tides and more, 16 tracks in all.
- Eric Hilton of Thievery Corporation recently released his directorial film debut, Babylon Central. Available as a CD / DVD package, the film was shot on location in Washington, DC. An accompanying 17- song soundtrack includes rare, vintage, out-of print, and unreleased sonic gems, including an previously
unavailable remix of “Amerimacka” by Thievery Corporation.
