Belle & Sebastian - Write About Love Instores Oct. 12, 2010

12 October 2010

After a 5-year hiatus that saw the release of solo projects, soundtracks and more, Glasgow’s beloved Belle And Sebastian have returned with one of their finest albums yet, Write About Love.
Marrying the intimacy of early works like Sinister and Tigermilk, with the production values of their more recent work, Write About Love is a varied, captivating and occasionally disturbing trawl through the mind of Stuart Murdoch and his band mates.
The album features duets with Norah Jones and actress Carey Mulligan (An Education) and, like their last album, was recorded with full orchestration with producer Tony Hoffer at the Sound Factory in Los Angeles.
Available on US import CD and LP, the booklet comes with essays about the recording of the album by Stuart, and the gatefold vinyl includes an MP3 download coupon of the entire record plus two bonus tracks.
For the first time ever the group will be on the road immediately following streetdate with a lone Canadian appearance October 12th at Massey Hall (Toronto), with additional dates coming early in the new year.
Jimmy Fallon appearence September 29th. They will also be performing at Matador’s 21st anniversary concert in Las Vegas October 1st alongside Pavement, Guided By Voices, Spoon and many, many others.
A special youtube TV special will begin running September 13th, get a sneak peak now at www.matadorrecords.com The featured track is called “I Want The World To Stop.”

  • Special coupon inside 1st pressing of LP/CD to enter lyrics contest for love song “Write About Love”, winning lyrics will be set to music by band and released on Valentine’s Day.
In the 5 years since the release of The Life Pursuit, the band members have been taking a break and working on their own projects. Mick curated the children’s album, ‘Colours Are Brighter’ (2006) and has been arranging and writing for other bands, TV and film; Richard has been touring the world with Snow Patrol and Stuart has been working on the screenplay for his God Help The Girl film, the soundtrack for which was released on Matador / Rough Trade in 2009.
That album featured notable contributions from all the other members of Belle and Sebastian, as well as a host of guest vocal talent. The other band members have also been writing, recording and DJing for either
their own projects, collaborations or new B&S material.
During the period of hiatus, Matador Records also released a compilation of BBC Sessions in 2008, covering the period 1996- 2001.
